DECONSTRUCTS THE IDEA OF HOME
INTO ELEMENTS OF TIME,
PLACE,
AND NON-PLACE
Dror Hibsh, a multidisciplinary artist and Ph.D. in bioinformatics focused on cancer DNA research, redefined the concept of home through elements of time, place, and non-place, reflecting on human experience and his own life. His installation featured three video works, a sound installation, and a sculpture, forming a mosaic of personal and collective exploration into the relationship between cancer, home, and parenthood, as he navigated personal traumas and the unsettling reality around us.
Experiencing Israel's early war bombings firsthand, Dror embarked on a journey with his new family, triggering the sense of dislocation that inspired this body of work. His video pieces created an existential triad, linking the primal idea of home with his perspective on his parents’ cancer as a researcher, and his role as a father. Engraved on his body was the poignant, unanswered question, "How do I explain to my daughter?"
The exhibition also featured a special performance show by avant-garde Israeli artist Adina Bar-On, who reprised her 2002 piece, Home of Course, giving new depth to her original work.
